The first night we viewed our house I could instantly see what I wanted the living room/dining room to look. Unfortunately, finding the actual color that I can see in my head has proved to be a little more difficult. For the past few weeks I have visited every store that carries no VOC paint and collected every swatch that looks close to what I am visualizing. Believe it or not there were actually more swatches at one time than what is in both pictures.
For the living room I want to go with a light gray, almost a silver that has a cold blue undertone. I think I found the one which in the photo below is the top swatch on the far left called Silver Trophy by Glidden. Hubby on the other hand while he is with me on the color disagrees with the depth. He likes the swatch below my favorite which is a much darker color called Vulcan Grey also by Glidden.

I think either color would work since our room gets a ton of light during the day thanks to the big window we have. Yep that would be my "office" on the floor because I can't give up the natural sunlight to go work in my real office.

Our dining room is open to our living room so I really want a drastic difference in color to visually separate the two spaces from each other. We played around with the idea of a deep purple to begin with but have ultimately decided on a rich turquoise called Slate Teal by Benjamin Moore.

All of the trim in our house needs to be repainted as well and I have quickly discovered that white is not just white. There are so many shades of white that it can make your head spin. The trim throughout the house all needs to painted the same shade of white but in order to do that I need to pick all of my colors for the walls first. However, I have to say this is a problem I am LOVING having.
I am hoping to finish up my inspiration boards for the living & dining room today so I can get them posted soon.
